PowerRankings

    Last update: January 11th, 2010

Power Rankings are for entertainment purposes and are written by the newest member of
our staff, the official Ice604 analyst, Pierce McGuire
.

Tier 1
1

Ryan Mah 24points, Rob Low 20 points, Steve Maihara 19 points, Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! Wong 17 points, Byron Chinack 16 points, Aleem Mohammed 16 points, Rob Chiang 14 points, Nathan Chiu 14 points, Ken Ball 11 points, Terence Yau 10 points.

That is 10 players that are scoring at a point-per-game pace, which is double  the amount of players that the Whalers have showing up to their games. At 7-1 Highlight Reelers' only loss comes at the hands of the dreaded Top Gun, in which they were undermanned. But this could be a good thing, because any team that has went undefeated in the regular in the ice 604 has went on to choke in the playoffs worse than an Argentinian soccer team. See: Hodags / Nighthawks.

2
Winners of two of three of their last games, with the loss coming against Highlight Reelers. Top Gun appears to be back on the comeback path with a big time win over NV Knights and a tight one over Hart Foundation. However Top Gun is a bit of an enigma  this season, much like Tom Cruise's sanity as of late. This team should be MUCH BETTER than .500. Will Top Gun kick it into high gear right into the playoffs, or will their dreams be killed in the playoffs like Goose in the Top Gun movie. We at the Ice604 War Room demand you lead the battlecry Terry Law.
3
Third slot was a tough choice, but I decided to slip NV Knights into third over Frostbite because of their sharp jerseys, which are only second to Top Gun's according to league sources. That being said this team has half of their players with 10+ games, and the other half with only 5 or 6 games. I thoroughly believe that with a full roster this team would be much better than 4-4. Keep a close eye on the roster for these guys, with their full team I have these guys as the second best team in the tier.
4

Solid forwards, solid defence and the Ice604's newly coined nickname Thrilliam Ng is amongst the best in the league. The biggest question mark for this team is goaltending. In order for this team to succeed Bang Nyugen must get those goals against lower, he has been lit up a few times this season.

5
Losers of three straight, Hart Foundation is as cold as the temperature of Umaga's skin right now. Jason Wu's GAA has went from a disgusting 1.00 to a more acceptable 3.75 in no time at all. The League demands Aaron Yip and Ross The Boss Izumi keep their PIMs down, and that last winter season's tier 2 scoring champion Ducky Lee find his offensive form. Pick it up boys, if Owen Hart were alive again today to watch your most recent performances he would probably die again......
6
The aura of Tony's blue helmet is about as dead as Alexadre Daigle's acting career at this point. ( What Daigle tried acting?! ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING I KNOW!). At 2-6 the Spartans are coming of 3 straight losses with 20 goals scored against in said losses. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EDGAR, WHAT DID I SAY!!!!
Tier 1
1
Dirty Dogs were a competitive team in tier 1, so this is an easy choice at the number one slot. The biggest question mark, is the Top Gun players on Dirty Dogs and whether they will be able to pull off  double duty for both teams during the playoffs condensed schedule. Will they fatigue and end up screwing both teams over?
2
Have managed to find more of their offensive game in tier 2, and also more of those penalty minutes again haha. I don't care what anyone says, those St.Louis scheme Jerseys are beauties and go well with Tim Fullerton's blue visor. Steve Pafundi looks to be the go to guy offensively with 13 goals in just 7 games, while Neil Advincula has cooled down since his torrid start.
3
Dragons (DRA) They are keeping the goals against pretty damn low, but they are also keeping their goals for low as well unfortunately. Earlier this season I told a friend on MSN "Dragons should be able to smoke everyone now they are moved down to tier 2", true story.  But since then the likes of Whalers, Pro-Stars, Dirty Dogs have been added to the mix. Stop making my job hard Herb.
4
Pro-Stars, Dragons and ILWU Ice Dogs are all interchangible in the power rankings in my opinion. That is how close I think they are. Pro Stars look to have a balanced scoring attack. Concerns however that Elie El-Zammar their top go-getter has only played 4 games. Watch out for Jordan Chang he is crazy enough to select Marek Svatos in the 5th round, which completely has EVERYTHING to do with these power rankings!
5
Whalers need all their players to show up, even Mike Uy's winning attitude cannot makeup for such shortcomings.
6
Hi Lane Plasma (HLS) Bit surprised to be putting these guys in the six slot, they looked pretty good earlier in the season, competing well against some of the teams that have since moved up to tier 1. Gary Chau leads this team the offensive categories once again, while at the same time patrolling the blue line, no shocker there though. I'll take a wait and see approach to this team, i think they can do better.

Tier 3
1
Comfortably in first in tier 3 for some time, I dont look for anything to change anytime soon. The big four of Benson Wu, Allen ManDonald, Sean Corbett and Ryan Genoe look to lead Icemen to the tier 3 promised land. Although, league officials are wondering, where the stallion Julian Ng has dissapeared to,  and why is he not on the roster?
2
Yeah, that's right, Jets have only played one game in this tier and I have them in second. Nothing to really go on here for now, except my badass prediction, and the fact that the Winnepeg Jets jerseys are some of the best of all time.
3
NightHawks (NHK) Nightawks have a GF/GA differential which is near identical to that of Icemen, however they have let a few games slip from their grasp. Nighthawks are a playoff team anyways, lead by fearless leader Tim The Fu Man Shew, this team usually saves their best for last.
4
Knights (KNI) This team should probably be scoring more goals. but we assume that their lower goal production is due to the fact that last season's top scorers Joey Wilson and Mike Milan have only played 6 games combined. They just haven't been able to get it done without those two. That's okay Mikey, save your energy for the upcoming ASHL season.
5
Autobots (ATB) The Autobots have been in the tough so far this season, they have been in alot of close losing contests. Things can easily get better if they can just come out of the right end of those close contests, until then Autobots eat the 5 slot.
6
Kim Chiefs (KCF) Im not going to be as rebellious with the Kim Chiefs ranking as I was with the Jets. Again, they haven't played a game in this tier yet, so I'll use the wait and see approach with this team as well. I can tell you this however; They have a cool logo.

Tier 4
1
Eatery All-Stars (EAS) The eye sores on skates are enjoying a fruitful season thus far, utilizing the most painful looking jerseys in the league. Their defense leads the way, with their top three scorers manning the blueline. Their 17 goals against in 8 games is an impressive feat. Easy favorites to win the tier thus far.
2
Storm (STM)

Their winning percentage is not as high as Fighting Squirrels, but they also have one less game played and I like their defense, a tier low 15 goals against. Storm always seem to be pretty good defensively, but perhaps should focus a bit more on goals as they only have 18.

3
The league demands.... DEMANDS more production out of franchise forward Wilson Leung. Winners of two games in a row, both of which were decided by one goal. They will either win by one or two, or lose by three or more.
4
Hellboyz (HBZ) Seasoned chamions of the past, Hellboyz are coming in the 4 slot rocking a 4-4 record, which I am sure is a dissapointment to them. Roster wise they look to be missing a few players which they have had in the roster in the past.
5
Frostbites (FRO) Cubz have come a long way since their introduction into the league where they couldn't manage a win and went 0-13-0-3. Now they are only 2-4, but they can find the back of the opposition's net better than some of the other teams in this tier. However their tier high 30 goals against overshadows their offensive output. We demand that Thrilliam Ng be inserted to this roster once more.
6
Fighting Irish (FII)

Struggles abound for the guys in purple this season. Not too sure where the problem lies for them this season. Seems to be competitive in every game, but does just enough to lose.

Tier 5
1
After only two games, Rusty Trombones are the high rollers of this tier. Stastistically Jhonard Flores, Garrett Hagg and Kenny Wong lead the charge for this team. However, those of us in the know, know that the true engine that drives the Rusty Trombones' vehicle is Marvin Valenton. A true blend of forechecker, power forward and agitator, Marvin Valenton should command a double team against everytime he is on the ice.
2
The Jonestown Punch (JTP) The defensive specialists, Jonestown Punch of a goals against average of under 2 after re-tiering. Offensively, no one really stands out except Matt Hurst, with an honorable mention to Ian Kalaski who has scored 7 goals from the back end.  OHHHH YEAAAHHH
3

The Paul Chongs are led by tier 5 scoring leader Paul Chong, who is alone on the Island of offence half the time. With only the trees and rocks to talk to on the island, it must be getting lonely fast, though I hear Mandeep Barn is close in the horizon on his raft carrying his 8 goals. Remember in the last power rankings when we wrote that the league will buy anyone a beer, if they shut down Paul Chong for a game? Well we take that back, need more money for the thursday night lobster dinners NOM NOM NOM NOM. Just kiding....           half kidding.

4
Jimmy Ly is itching to take away the scoring title away from Paul Chong with 23 points so far in the campaign. Best name in the ice604 Jayden Rush is having an off-season. Other than that Billets are having a very hit or miss season thus far.
5
Titans (TIN) This is a team that I think is kind of flying under the radar, know one really knows much about them, and by no one I mean me. They have some good games under their belt this season, with wins over teams like the Billets, and a close, close loss to the Jets who are now in tier 3.
6
This guys are workhorses on the ice, but for all that hard work they have nothing to show for it on the standings. with only 6 games played however they have 2 less games played than the Titans and Billets who are on top of them by only two and three points respectively. Finish off the season with a win or two and they can sky rocket up those standings.

Tier 6
1
Undefeated in tier 6 thus far fobbernaughts are just rolling along. With seven players who have 10 points or more, while allowing only 12 goals against, Fobbernaughts provide the most balanced attack and defense combo in the tier. Their name is pretty awesome too, so that should count for something as well.
2
Camp Douglas (CPD) This could be the only team in the league where I have them this high, and they dont even have a single player that is a point per game. John Bablitz is the closest with 11 points in 8 games. Clearly I need throw statistics out the window and recognize the intangibles, these guys are winning games without having to score boatloads of goals. I would expect no less from a team with a guy who I feel looks liek Liu Kang (Preston Chuhon)
3
Corey Marshall is running roughshod on this tier with 22 goals, he is the mvp and most dangerous player. Kermond Chow has a gross 19 assists already, so I assume he is the setup man for Marshall. Even outside those two, Blings  have seven players in double digit scoring.
4
While no surprise Nakyoon Jung leads the team and tier in scoring with 17 goals and 13 assists in just 9 games. However, there is a pleasant surprise in additional offence provided by Insung Jung, Derek Chung and Calvin Kim. One must wonder how well this team could have done in this tier this year with Soo Young Jang, seeing as how they are now developing a supporting cast.
5
Incredibles (INC) After coasting to an easy Championship last year, Incredibles are on par for an incredibly dissapointing season thus far. Their scorers are scoring, but they just dont seem to be winning.
6
Master Bladers (MTB)

Jesse Rupert carries the load for the masters of blading this season. At 2-5 they aren't too far off the mark compared to the rest of the their middle of the pack brethren.

Tier 7
1
Aviators (AVA) General Manager and president of hockey operations Bang Nyugen must be pleased with the upstart Aviators this winter season. At 8-1 they are off to a much better start than fellow franchise team Cubs were at the same point last winter. These guys score by commitee with no players at the 10 goal makr yet. If the Uns and William Ng can string together more points, Aviators can win this tier comfortably.
2
Killer Bunnies Ice (KBI)

As offensive sound as the Aviators, KBI has only three less goals. They do however boast one goal scorer with over 10 goals, and done in just 6 games (Johnathan Hung). KBI scores pretty much in the same fashion as Aviators, by commitee, with goals coming from everyone. This team will have Aviators looking at their rear view mirror very closely the whole way through.

3

The only other team in the tier not named Aviators and Killer Bunnies Ice that have a record over .500. However, unlike those two afforementioned teams Ghetto Superstars do not score by commitee. They boast Steve Paco and his 17 goals, however past that it begins to tail off significantly.

4
Broad Street Bunnies (BSB) The sister team of Killer Bunnies Ice but not enjoying nearly as much succees. They score a good chunk of goals, but their 44 goals against is the second highest in the tier.
5
KoopaTroopas (KPT) In tier 5 they got roughed up, and got moved down. In tier 6 they got roughed up and moved down. Now in tier 7 they are getting roughed up (1-4) and can't be moved down. Koopa troopas are missing key personnel that helped them capture a championship the season before.
6
I award these guys the best team name and jersey combo award. Any team with a jersey that has a logo of Grimlock with a hockey stick wins atleast 10 awesome points. Dai Lo Bots are still searching for that first win, with only a few games to go, can they do it? The bookies at Ice604 HQ believe they can and will.
